The migration of chilly Northeasterners seeking Florida's sunny skies and warm beaches is already in swing. And Amtrak is eager to assist with the seasonal exodus.

Amtrak is offering to help travelers skip the hassle and notorious stress of driving down the I-95 between the East Coast and Florida, by taking the train with their vehicle aboard the Auto Train.

Now through Tuesday, November 28, 2023, tickets are available for as low as $39 for travel in Coach and as low as $239 for travel in a First Class private room, plus the cost of a vehicle's ride. Cars, vans, SUVs and motorcycles are all welcome on board, saving travelers nearly 900 miles of driving during the overnight route.

A private room is certainly much better than half a day behind the wheel. Amtrak's options include a Roomette, which has two seats that transform into upper and lower beds by night, or a bedroom, which has twice the space of a Roomette as well as an in-room sink, restroom and shower. First Class customers can also take advantage of priority boarding, enjoy a dedicated attendant and complimentary meals onboard, including a new hot breakfast menu served before arrival. Double occupancy is required for both First Class Roomette and Bedrooms, with rates starting at $539 for two travelers in a bedroom.

Travelers in coach have wide, reclining seats with ample legroom, no middle seat and a large window to enjoy the view. All Auto Train Coach interiors were recently refreshed with new seating cushions and upholstery, carpeting and window curtains. Prior to arrival, a complimentary continental breakfast is also served.

Amtrak's sale is valid on Northbound and Southbound trips, from Sanford, Florida (near Orlando), to Lorton, Virginia (outside Washington D.C.) through March 21, 2024, and southbound travel from Lorton to Sanford from Jan. 15 – June 30, 2024. A one-day advance purchase is required. Blackout dates and other restrictions apply. Amtrak's Auto Train departs daily from each station at 4pm with an arrival of 9am the following morning.
