The romantic call of train travel just got a little more affordable for you and a friend. Amtrak's latest sale offers two-for-one tickets on private rooms from now until Monday, March 21.

The two tickets are valid only for travel in a “roomette” private room with a shared bathroom and shower down the hall. The sale does not apply to upgraded overnight options like those with a private bathroom or a family suite, but it does include meals. Lucky for you, Amtrak recently rolled out a three-course dinner for private room guests to make travel more elegant. The experience also includes access to the lounge area when waiting in the station and the attentions of a sleeping car attendant who helps situate you for the night with turn-down service, assists with your luggage, and, as the Amtrak site reports, “shares great stories of life on the rails.” If you’re on a train with an observation car you'll also have access to the train's glass ceiling to bask in incredible views.

Want to criss-cross the country in style this summer? The offer works for many of Amtrak's most scenic overnight routes, including these trains: the California Zephyr – a great train to ride right now as it goes through snow tunnels in the Sierra — Capitol Limited, Cardinal, City of New Orleans, Coast Starlight, Crescent, Empire Builder, Lake Shore Limited, Silver Star, Southwest Chief, Sunset Limited, and Texas Eagle.

Note, that passengers must still wear masks on the train and in the station. And if crowds are a concern, you can use the mobile app to see how full a train is when deciding which one to take.

The sale is valid on travel between March 16 and May 22. When booking, use code C450 to get the two-for-one deal.
