Watch out for stray balls in the food court! This summer, the Bounce the Mall inflatable festival comes to a mall near you, with probably the largest ball pit you’ve ever bounced in. Created by XL Event Lab, the people who brought you the Big Bounce America, this spectacle starts in July in the northeast and then travels to the west coast.
There are eight components to the festival, but we’re most excited about Balls In The Mall: The Largest Ball Pit Touring North America. What makes this ball pit special? It’s so big that adults and kids can swim in a deep sea of more than a quarter of a million plastic balls, spread over 10,000 square feet. It holds 100 people at a time and involves live entertainment from a central stage, so your ball pit can morph to a mosh pit.
Rather than taking place inside, Bounce the Mall will be set up in parking lots outside of the country’s most visited entertainment spaces, including some of its busiest malls. It will have seven other inflatable features, like the impressive entrance arch guarded by a giant 30-foot unicorn. The Sports Slam area offers climbing walls, a wrecking ball to live out your Miley Cyrus dreams, basketball hoops and more. The Headphone Disco dome is shaped like an igloo and inside you’ll find DJs spinning tunes you can catch on the free wireless headphones, along with lighting effects to make this silent disco feel as much like a club as possible. There’s a 600-foot long obstacle course called the Rapid Race with a six-lane sneaker-shaped slide finish line; a selfie station with big, fun props; and a circular moonwalk with a birthday cake theme.
Perhaps most attractive for adults is the 'Bounce Cafe' with food trucks and a patio to regain your breath and upload photos.
Bounce the Mall starts in Philadelphia in July, then goes to Elizabeth, New Jersey in August; Hanover, Maryland in September; Woodbridge, Virginia in October; Dawsonville, Georgia in October and November; and Miami, Florida in January and February of 2023. More cities will be added as the tour goes west.
Tickets start at $21 for a 90-minute pass to all attractions. Bounce the Mall will follow enhanced cleaning protocols and adhere to Covid health mandates in each location.
