It’s alive! …Again! FX is officially reviving the Mel Brooks classic Young Frankenstein as a TV prequel starring Zach Galifianakis, Dolly Wells and Spencer House.

According to Variety, FX just ordered it for a series, meaning it’s happening!

RECOMMENDED: 12 shows you'll want to watch on Apple TV this summer

The original Young Frankenstein from 1974 is a comedy classic. Gene Wilder is an endearing but outrageous Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced Fronk-en-steen), the grandson of Victor Frankenstein, who becomes obsessed with reanimating the dead when he inherits the infamous Transylvanian estate. The film is especially funny because Dr. Frankenstein denies his lineage at first but we watch him slowly descend into gleeful madness with help from Frau Blücher (Cloris Leachman), Igor (Marty Feldman) and Inga (Teri Garr). Madeline Kahn also stars as Dr. Frankenstein’s fiancée Elizabeth, Peter Boyle is Frankenstein’s monster and Gene Hackman, who briefly appears as a blind man who meets the monster.

It’s a hard act to follow, but it has the backing of big-time comedy writers, producer and actors. Executive producers are writer Stefani Robinson, Taika Waititi and Garrett Basch—alums of the hit FX comedy series What We Do in the Shadows—as well as Mel Brooks (who co-wrote and directed the original film), Kevin Salter and Michael Gruskoff (who produced the original film).

A pilot exists, which Waititi directed, that stars Galifianakis as Dr. Frankenstein. Reportedly Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride) played the President of the United States. Nikki Crawford, and Kumail Nanjiani also appeared in the pilot. Other character details are under wraps.

Very Young Frankenstein blends inspiration from the fan-favorite movie with the inventive, irreverent spirit that has defined FX comedies over the years, making this a completely original take on the classic story,” said Nick Grad, President of FX Entertainment, in a statement. “In the hands of FX veterans Stefani, Taika and Garrett, alongside the iconic Mel Brooks, we know that fans will have as much fun watching this series as we’re having making it.”

Because it's an FX show, it'll be aired on Hulu.

Stay tuned for more information as we learn it!
