Ever since #BookTok exploded on TikTok, literary criticism has opened to so many more people. Readers from different backgrounds and genres have been able to share their thoughts openly, creating a space that belongs to the general public rather than professional critics.

So as you’re considering what to read over the next few months, BookTok is a good place to start your search. According to TikTok, there have been more than 80 million global #BookTok posts since June 1. Because of that, the platform is sharing creators and their personal reading recommendations for summer 2026. 

Below, you’ll find romances, sci-fi, thrillers, historical fiction and more—something for everybody—with a synopsis, comments from BookTok TikTokers with big followings and a link to where you can find them.

1. Daggermouth by H.M. Wolfe (Dystopian Romance)
