You can stream ‘Toy Story 5’ at home starting in September

All your favorite toys are coming to streaming in September!

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, which earned a cool $1.09 billion at the global box office and $470.7 million domestically, will stream on Disney+ starting September 23.

Already, you can watch the new music video for the piano version of Taylor Swift’s original song “I Knew It, I Knew You” (with footage from Toy Story 5) on Disney+, Spotify and Apple Music.

The movie was already released to video on demand on August 18 for digital purchase or rental, but you can now watch it with your Disney+ subscription at no additional cost.

The fifth film, directed by Andrew Stanton and Kenna Harris, sets toy against tech. “Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack) and the rest of the gang's jobs are challenged when they come face-to-face with Lilypad (Greta Lee), a brand-new tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie (Scarlett Spears),” the logline reads.

In addition to the regular voice cast, the film is as star-studded as a kid’s bedroom ceiling. While Lee voices the controversial frog-shaped tablet, Conan O’Brien is Smarty Pants, a toilet training toy, and Craig Robinson is Atlas, an upbeat hippo GPS toy. Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, also known as Bad Bunny, makes a voice cameo as Pizza with Sunglasses and Alan Cumming makes his cameo as Evil Bullseye, Bullseye’s playtime alter ego during an imagination sequence.

If how much money it made in theaters doesn’t speak to you, the animated flick also got a 93% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it nearly as beloved as the rest of the franchise.

Here’s how to watch Toy Story 5 at home

Toy Story 5 will be on Disney+ on September 23, or if you can't wait, it's available for digital purchase or rental on Prime Video and Fandango. It's coming out on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD disc on September 22.

Will there be Toy Story 5 digital extras?

Yes, when you buy the film on 4K and regular Blu-ray discs, you’ll get a digital copy in Steelbook packaging with artwork depicting Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Bullseye and the new tech characters, Lilypad and Smarty Pants.

You’ll also get commentary by co-director Kenna Harris, production designer Bob Pauley and VFX supervisor Thomas Jordan; five deleted sequences with an introduction by director Andrew Stanton and Harris; a gag reel; and four featurettes: “The Toys Are Back in Town” about returning to the franchise, “Casting Playtime” about new cast members including Conan O’Brien and Greta Lee, “50 Buzzes and The Great Escape” about a key scene in the film, and “The Lost Toys” about concepts cut from the film, the outlet reports. 

It will also come with the music video for “I Knew It, I Knew You” and a lyric video for the song.

You can bundle the film with the original Toy Story or a five-film collection, which will also be released digitally and on DVD.

Of course, you can now stream all the previous Toy Story franchise films and shorts in the Toy Story Collection on Disney+.
