How to watch Olivia Wilde's sex-comedy 'The Invite' with Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton

One of this year’s best dramedies—about sex and its hold on us—is now available to stream at home.

The Invite star and director Olivia Wilde, along with co-stars Edward Norton and Penélope Cruz, released a little announcement yesterday about the release:

What is The Invite about? 

Written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack and directed by Wilde, the film centers around a dinner party that goes off the rails. As per A24’s description, “Joe and Angela’s marriage is on thin ice. When they invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbors for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places. Have they reignited the spark or lit the match that burns it all down?”

Seth Rogen also stars in the film.

It premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival on January 24 to positive reviews and was released in select theaters in the U.S. at the end of June.

Time Out’s Global film editor Phil de Semlyen gave it four out of five stars when it came out earlier this year, saying “daringly close to the bone and frequently fall-off-your-chair funny.” 

And with a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s one you won’t want to skip.

It’s still in some theaters right now, so check your local listings, but you can watch it at home by renting/purchasing it on Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Fandango at Home and Google Play for about $19.99 to rent and $24.99 to buy.
