It'll be produced by the team behind 'Stranger Things.'

Netflix is taking on a massive project to adapt a cult-classic video game series, and you'll never see it comin': The Japanese role-playing game series, Persona, is getting a live-action series.
Each entry in the award-winning anthology series from publisher Atlus follows high school students as they unlock their alter-egos (personas) and fight with demons, monsters, shadows and other baddies. The series is also beloved for its social simulation, in which you can choose how you react during conversations, who you befriend and romance, and how you spend your free time—including trips to do your laundry!
Netflix, fresh off of adaptations of The Witcher, League of Legends (Arcane), Cyberpunk 207 (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners) and Tomb Raider (The Legend of Lara Croft), among others, is now turning its focus toward Persona, according to Variety. It was really only a matter of time.
Christopher Monfette is reportedly writing, showrunning and executive producing the show with Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Robert Atwood of 21 Laps, as well as with Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg and Timothy I. Stevenson via Story Kitchen and Toru Nakahara of SEGA.
Monfette has previously written for shows like Syfy’s 12 Monkeys, Paramount's Star Trek: Picard, and 9-1-1 for Fox & ABC, Variety says. Meanwhile, 21 Laps produced Netflix's Stranger Things.
According to Polygon, Netflix hasn't had much success with video game live-action adaptations, including the now-canceled Resident Evil. It is still reportedly working on a BioShock movie.
There's no information yet on when the Persona show might begin production, but stay tuned!
