The early-aughts disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway went unsolved for 16 years—then, in 2023, a big confession dropped.
The whirlwind discovery of the true-crime case—which saw the then-18-year-old Holloway vanish during a high school graduation trip to Aruba in May 2005—as well as the fallout from her disappearance and the subsequent drama surrounding her alleged killer is at the heart of a new documentary series coming to Netflix.
The three-part doc, which is currently untitled, is from directors Dani Sloane (The Menendez Brothers, Girl in the Picture) and Matthew Galkin (Murder in Big Horn, One Night In Idaho: The College Murders), who aim to revisit the case from the point of view of those closest to Holloway.

After her graduation celebration trip to Aruba in 2005, Holloway never got on the plane home. Her disappearance kicked off a massive media frenzy and island-wide search that continued for 16 years until her killer came clean after years of denial and avoidance.
In the new doc, Holloway’s mom, Beth Holloway, will tell the full story from her perspective for the very first time. It’ll reveal “forgotten moments, previously unreported elements in the case, and its lasting impact,” with interviews from investigators and clips of never-before-seen footage, Netflix says.
It was produced by Story Syndicate; Liz Garbus, Dan Cogan, Jon Bardin, Dani Sloane, and Tommy Coriale are the executive producers.
