The new animated series follows the kids as they discover more horrors beneath the ice in the winter of 1985.

Stranger Things isn't finished. It's being reborn.
Netflix's Stranger Things: Tales From '85, an animated show following the events of season 2 by Eric Robles (Glitch Techs, Fanboy & Chum Chum) and the Duffer Brothers, follows the crew in the winter of 1985, when they discover more horrors beneath the ice. The gang is back as their kid-selves before Billy gets possessed, the Soviet base is discovered, they meet Eddie, join the Hellfire Club, and learn the importance of Kate Bush’s "Running Up That Hill."
"It's got the thrill of being young, being a kid, and going on these thrilling adventures. But then there's this essence of real danger, real stakes," Robles told Tudum. "This is one of the rarest opportunities that we’re ever going to get to be with the main characters. We get to go back in time and really just hang out with these kids."

Most fans agree that the three years it took for Stranger Things season 5 to come out hurt their enthusiasm for the show. In fact, the entire show took 10 years to produce five seasons, which caused some dissonance between the characters’ ages and the ages of the cast.
All that behind us though, the show looks visually stunning with new, horrifying monsters and cool character design that keeps each character’s main attributes intact. The Duffer brothers in Netflix’s official announcement video said it is meant to evoke the feeling of a 1980s cartoon.
So ahead of the show’s release, here’s what you need to know:
April 23. All 10 episodes will be released for your bingeing pleasure.
It has a 4.8 out of 10 stars on IMDb this week from those who got early access (the first two episodes had a limited theatrical release on April 18 at select AMC theaters), but it remains to be seen what critics and the wider public think.
