In true South Park fashion, series creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have announced that they’re changing the show’s name to South America ahead of the 29th season premiere on September 16.
“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” reads the show’s Instagram post about the new season. “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”

The tongue-in-cheek gag is South Park through and through—responding to the insane political gymnastics happening in real time with snark and blatant mockery.
This time, its creators are mocking President Donald Trump’s executive order to rename Lake Ontario to “Lake America” while slapping tariffs on Canada. Obviously, Canadian officials have said they won’t recognize the new name. Apple and Google, however, have gone along with the order, changing Lake Ontario to “Lake America” for users in the U.S. Last year, he successfully got the map companies to change the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.” Now, he’s posting AI generated content on Truth Social saying New Mexico should be called “New America.”
When the new season premieres (on September 16 at 10pm EST/PT on Comedy Central, should you want to mark your calendars), it’s bound to tackle the renaming situation head on—and we’re here for it.
