Taco Bell is bringing back its Toasted Cheddar Chalupa, now with a vegetarian option

We'll take one of each, to be honest.

No, we won't get Taco Bell's Canada-only wine, Jalapeño Noir, but the good news is we are about to get the menu item that it pairs with. Prepare for the return of the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa, one of the Bell's cheesiest, crunchiest innovations—and it'll even be available as a vegetarian item for the first time ever.

Launching across the U.S. on November 5—and disappearing after another limited run—the regular Toasted Cheddar Chalupa will come stuffed with your choice of beef, grilled chicken or steak along with sour cream, cheese, lettuce and tomato inside a fried chalupa shell that's clad in toasted aged cheddar for a cheesy, evenly crunchy bite.

The new vegetarian option will swap out the meat for black beans, and it's officially approved by the American Vegetarian Association. What's more, the regular chalupa was already Taco Bell's top item for fans swapping out meat for beans—now it'll be even easier and cheesier.

The new item joins Taco Bell's "veggie cravings" menu, and it's just a peek at what's to come in 2021: even more meat-free options—which, personally, we're going to need after the brand axed our favorite veggie items, the 7-layer burrito and the spicy potato soft taco (R.I.P.).
