It’s no surprise fans of HBO Max’s hit TV show The Pitt are fully invested. The “real-time” format show, where each episode takes place in a single hour of the day, brings together doctors from various backgrounds to the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center Emergency Room (The Pitt), resulting in dramatic, heartwrenching and heartwarming moments.
Now in season 2, the staff is wading through traumatic events on July 4, a truly explosive day.

It makes sense then why fans “ship,” or pair characters together in a wishful romantic relationship, their beloved doctors together. Saving lives and falling in love while doing it is the ultimate entertainment. People are high-key shipping Doctor Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) and Dr. Dennis Whitaker (Gerran Howell), so much so that even Wyle and his co-stars have seen the memes and fan art (usually with the hashtag #hucklerobby) and commented on them.
“I get sent a lot of art of Gerran and me. Sometimes we’re cowboys, and sometimes we’re in a hammock. Sometimes we’re taking a nap or having a sandwich,” Wyle said in January at a media event for the show.
Wyle is being coy about what’s out there (we have seen it all).
“I get shown it,” Howell said at that same event. “Sometimes against my will. But it's a signifier of how much [the drama] is resonating with people."
Hey, trauma-bonding is real!
Buzzfeed UK actually showed some of the artwork to Wyle and Katherine LaNasa (Dana) recently and they described some as “tame.” Then, Wyle described the “wildest” fan art he’s seen: Dr. Whitaker doing a pull-up and locking his legs around Dr. Robby in the ER.
Wyle said he’s seen it all because his "algorithm is bent.”

That being said, he gets it. “It’s a wonderful relationship that has been apparently catalytic for a lot of imaginations out there to take flights of fancy and to render some beautifully-done graphic art and send it to me, so I have a wide range of images to think of when I think of Gerran Howell,” he told The Gay Times.
