Many Americans just earned bragging rights for living in some of the World's Greatest Places. TIME's annual list just dropped for 2023, and several American cities and destinations made the top fifty list.

Curated through nominations by TIME's international network of correspondents, the list tries to focus on new and exciting experiences to help readers make the most of exploring and traveling the world. Fifty destinations across the globe are selected, and several this year are in the United States, with the list leaning heavily on the western part of the country. The list isn't ranked, but rather a collection of recommended spots to visit in the coming year.

On the list, Oregon's Willamette Valley is dubbed "the next Napa" thanks to its excellent wines, hospitality and a new Wine Country Pride, the world's first queer wine festival that debuted in June 2022. Also out west is Bozeman, Montana, which offers "a warm Western welcome" and Yosemite National Park, thanks to its restorative nature and outdoor appeal to all types of travelers. Further south is Tucson, which TIME calls "the soul of the Sonoran Desert" and Tampa, a Florida city known for "waterfront fun."

Puerto Rico's Rio Grande also made the list for its accessible jungle adventures and Washington D.C. was also named a greatest place thanks to its "new artistic identity" emerging in the 2020s.

Also in North America, two Mexican cities, Guadalajara and the country's capital, Mexico City, made the list, plus Vancouver, Canda, beloved for its eclectic cuisine.
