Looking for a long drive? Redditors are on it.

A Reddit post asking, "What is the most beautiful stretch of road in North America?" has yielded some great responses, tried and true long drives by Redditors eager to share their enthusiasm for America's open roads.

Over 800 travelers commented on the subreddit to share their favorite drives, with many recommending Going-to-the-Sun Road (AKA sun road), a Rocky Mountain drive that's part of Montana's Glacier National Park. The drive requires a permit and parts are closed during the colder months.

But if you're looking for sunshine, the second most popular response may intrigue you. Two highways, California 1 and U.S. 101, reign supreme for American roadtrippers. Also known as the Pacific Coast Highway, California's State Highway 1 runs north and south, up and down the Pacific coastline, for epic scenic views, shoreline stops, and a fantastic road trip from Northern California all the way to San Diego.

If you want to start the memorable drive earlier, get on at U.S. 101, which travels through Washington and Oregon and will take you through Big Sur. U.S. 395 is another popular route on the trip, an interior California highway also called the Eastern Sierra Scenic Byway.

Eager to drive the road slightly less traveled? Beartooth Highway in Montana and Wyoming is another frequent recommendation on the list, as well is Needles Highway / Iron Mountain Road in South Dakota. This loop will take you to the state's most popular sites, including the Needles and Mount Rushmore, and offer views of the Black Hills National Forest.
