The Northeast’s ongoing competition to see who can charge the most for summer travel just hit an unexpected interruption: $10 bus tickets.

Intercity bus company OurBus just announced a massive $10 fare sale across more than 50 Northeast routes to celebrate its 10th anniversary, meaning travelers can potentially get from New York City to places like Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and even Niagara Falls for less than the cost of a single overpriced airport sandwich.

The limited-time promotion applies to select trips between May 23 and June 10, provided tickets are booked by May 22. Routes included in the sale stretch across a huge swath of the Northeast, connecting cities including Atlantic City, Baltimore, Buffalo, Hartford, Ithaca, Providence, Rochester and more.

As summer travel prices creep upward again this year and budget airline options diminish, that’s helped turn buses—once treated mostly as the “well, I guess” option of transportation—into something people are increasingly using on purpose.

“Travel costs have risen significantly over the past few years, making it harder for many people to take trips during peak travel periods,” said Axel Hellman, co-founder of OurBus. “This sale gives people an affordable way to visit friends and family, explore a new city or take a getaway before peak summer crowds and prices arrive.”

Founded in 2016, OurBus started primarily as a Northeast commuter service before expanding into a larger network that now connects more than 300 cities and towns nationwide. Unlike traditional bus carriers that build rigid fixed-route systems, the company says it uses booking trends and rider feedback to determine where demand exists, partnering with local and family-run operators rather than operating all routes directly itself.

While bus travel still carries certain deeply ingrained cultural baggage (everyone has at least one mildly traumatic bus story), companies like OurBus have spent the last decade making the experience feel a little more functional. The buses include amenities like Wi-Fi, charging outlets, onboard bathrooms, GPS tracking and 24/7 customer support.

Which, to be fair, is already more than some airlines are offering these days.
