Unsurprisingly, since mid-March, Uber Eats orders across the United States and Canada have increased by 30%. That's likely a reaction to people's quarantines: we spend more time indoors, certainly cook more but also end up treating ourselves to some delivery, hoping to help out local businesses along the way.
The company has joined in on that effort by waiving delivery fees for independent restaurants and launching a new in-app feature that allows users to donate directly to eateries across the country. Uber Eats itself will match each one of those donations up to $5 million to benefit the National Restaurant Association's Restaurant Employee Relief Fund.
Taking a deep dive into their business numbers, the food delivery service has recently revealed what it is that Americans are ordering while home. The company released a list of the most popular dishes, desserts and drinks across 35 states in the United States in March.
Overall, sodas topped the drink list, followed by Thai iced tea and horchata. In terms of sweets, the most popular ones are cheesecake, tiramisu and baklava.
Below, check out a state-by-state breakdown of the most ordered foods on the app in March. Of course, the data mirrors a state's usual preference—is it no surprise that people in Pennsylvania have been devouring cheesesteaks, for example. Interestingly (and unsurprisingly) enough, French fries reign supreme as the most popular dish across the board, followed by garlic naan and pad Thai.
