Our favorite blonde is back!

Elle Woods, protagonist of 2001’s Legally Blonde, is back on the screen in a brand new prequel series by Prime Video. Premiering this summer, we’ll follow her along what looks to be her first big life change.

The trailer promises both Gemini vegetarians—a signature pink-loving, bubbly Elle and her dog Bruiser—in a nostalgic, 1995-era California (keep an eye out for beepers, butterfly clips and boomboxs). Off the bat, it looks just as funny and charming as the film.

“What, like it’s hard?”

The show, from media company Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios, is created by Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure) and co-showrun/executive produced by Kittrell and Caroline Dries. Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Marc Platt, and Amanda Brown are also serving as executive producers while Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) directed the first two episodes of Season 1 and also serves as an executive producer.

“Twenty-five years after the world met Elle Woods for the first time, it’s a dream come true to share the story of how she became the unstoppable force we all fell in love with,” said Witherspoon in a statement.

Here’s everything you need to know about Elle when it drops in July.

When does Elle premiere?

Midnight on July 1, 2026.

What is Elle about?

Season 1 of Elle will feature the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film, Prime says. The trailer is set in her high school years, when she learns she and her family have to move to Seattle, uprooting everything she’s known.

Where can I watch the trailer for Elle?

Right here!

How to watch Elle:

Tune in on Prime Video. All episodes are expected to drop at once.

Who is in the cast of Elle?

The Season 1 cast of Elle includes Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods, June Diane Raphael as Elle’s mother Eva, and Tom Everett Scott as her father Wyatt, alongside Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney and Zac Looker.

Recurring cast members include Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, Matt Ober, Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada, and James Van Der Beek (who died in February this year).

“Discovering Lexi Minetree [who portrays Elle] and watching her step into Elle’s fabulous shoes has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my career,” Witherspoon said. “I think our series’ themes of kindness, authenticity, and believing in yourself will resonate deeply with fans of the original films and new audiences alike.”

Will there be a season 2 of Elle?

Yes!

“Ordering a second season speaks to our belief in the creative vision and the incredible team behind the series, and we’re excited for audiences to experience Elle’s journey starting with Season 1,” said Peter Friedlander, Global Head of Television, Amazon MGM Studios.
