Google TV devices now have access to thousands of movies and shows—and there's no subscription required.

Tired of all your streaming subscriptions? No worries! You don’t need them anymore—as long as you don’t mind watching ads.
Google announced this week that Google TV devices now offer more than 10,000 movies and shows as well as 300 live channels, free to watch on Google TV Freeplay.
RECOMMENDED: You can now watch free movies on Fandango without an account
Freeplay has content from top studios like A24 and Lionsgate as well as Oscar winners such as Lady Bird and popular titles like Seventeen Again and Hell’s Kitchen.
Channels include the new World of Love Island, Bloomberg TV+, Yahoo! Sports Network, and The Martha Stewart Channel.
There is more to come as Google says it’ll refresh its library all year long.
After over a decade of streaming subscriptions (sans ads), the number of services and their fees have been increasing steadily. We’re all burned out on trying to find where films and TV shows stream, and we're paying more than ever. Companies are catching onto that and giving content out for free—if you’ll only watch some advertisements. Tubi, Fandango, YouTube, Roku and Pluto have come out with “free-to-watch” content without needing a subscription or even a sign-up. It’s a nice change of pace; however, they’re selling your attention to advertisers and they don’t often have brand-new series or films. Still, you can find fan-favorites, Hollywood classics, cult-classics and obscure films and shows across them.
If you’re wondering exactly how these live channels and ad-interrupted programs are different from cable TV, I think you’re onto something.
