Miiro Spittelberg is a new boutique lifestyle hotel a short stroll away from Vienna city centre, in the hip creative district of Neubau. Art aficionados will love its proximity to major attractions such as the MuseumsQuartier and the Kunsthistorisches Museum, while foodies will enjoy the large variety of cuisines on offer nearby.
The hotel offers a contemporary urban townhouse feel with an artistic touch. The communal spaces are designed to be warm and welcoming, with the emphasis on neutral tones and natural materials complemented by splashes of colour and atmospheric lighting. All the art across the hotel has been carefully curated by local artist FLOWSOFLY, whose obsession with the line is most notable in the ceiling mural in the lounge area.
The rooms are spacious, bright and airy, with large windows providing panoramic views over the village-like neighbourhood and beyond. As elsewhere in the hotel, bespoke art brings a pop of colour to the contemporary interiors and furnishings, with a cosy reading chair to tuck yourself away in. The rainfall showers are delightful, as are the excellent Le Labo toiletries and in-room comforts such as tea-making facilities.
The Miiro Spittelberg’s natural materials and textures aesthetic extends to the gym and wellness area, which is equipped with high-end, wood-finished NOHRD fitness equipment and a sauna. As with the brand’s other hotels, there’s also a Refresh Room, where you can freshen up if your room isn’t ready yet or ahead of a late-night flight.
Poco is designed to be a neighbourhood bar and restaurant, put together in collaboration with Jake Bucknall and Jacob Stuttard, of London’s homegrown pizza business D4100. Pizza takes centre stage in the restaurant’s open kitchen, while the bar is perfect for artisan coffee during the day and cocktails by night. Vinyl-only nights sees DJs take to the turntable in the bar every Friday. The extensive breakfast buffet is a sight to behold and well worth the cost.
Location is Miiro Spittelberg’s greatest selling point. Situated in the Spittelberg area of the hip district of Neubau, major attractions just a short walk away include the MuseumsQuartier, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Natural History Museum, with the Ringstrasse boulevard and the sights of the historic centre easily accessible from there by foot or public transport.
Shoppers can enjoy the big brands of main shopping street Mariahilferstrasse, while those looking for arty or quirky gifts souvenirs can easily lose an afternoon exploring the ateliers, boutiques and independent stores that Neubau is famous for. Spittelberg is also known for its Christmas market, when artisan stalls line the tight cobbled streets selling everything from hand-made jewellery and pottery to roasted chestnuts and mulled wine.
Neubau is also a hotspot for foodies, with pretty much every cuisine you can think of available within walking distance. Worth asking for some local tips though as many of the best places are hidden down side streets.
