This no-nonsense drinking den in Shaw is frequently cramped for good reason: it serves classic, inexpensive drinks in a modestly decorated and welcoming atmosphere.
The vibe: Much like the mood lighting, cocktail prices are low. Here you’ll find arguably the city’s best Negroni, along with a Manhattan, Old Fashioned and French 75, each under $10. Owner David Batista, the former bar manager at Zaytinya and Jaleo, also offers a handful of wines and beers by the bottle.
The drink: All Souls doesn't have a very creative cocktail menu, but each drink is made very well. The move here is to order the Negroni. Here, they make it strong and smooth.
The food: All Souls doesn't have a food menu, so you're better off visiting for pre or post dinner drinks and venturing to nearby U. or H Streets when you get hungry.
Time Out tip: You can bring your own food to this bar, which is helpful because it doesn't really have a food menu.
