This no-nonsense drinking den in Shaw is modestly decorated and frequently cramped. Much like the mood lighting, cocktail prices are low. Here you’ll find arguably the city’s best Negroni, along with a Manhattan, Old Fashioned and French 75, each under $10. Owner David Batista, the former bar manager at Zaytinya and Jaleo, also offers a handful of wines and beers by the bottle.

For solid cocktails in a lowkey environment, it's hard to top All Souls. Nothing gets too fancy, but when negronis are perfectly made, and the vibe is chill, what else do you even need?
This is a great neighborhood bar in Shaw, almost at U street. At All Souls, you can order an All Souls special, which is two glasses, one of rosé and one of Maker's neat, for $11. GREAT DEAL. Careful not to get too drunk. Also, who would have thought that this was a delicious pairing? The colors even look good together. The owners are the bartenders and they're cool as hell. It gets busy, but it's still a great bar to go to if you want to sit and chill. I’ve gone alone before, and the bartenders are very friendly. Grab a drink before or after the rest of your night’s plans, or just stop in to wind down after work.
