Whiskey lovers will feel at home at this Irish-leaning Bloomingdale mainstay, which turned out to be a harbinger of hip when it first opened in 2011. Though that tiny strip of Rhode Island Ave. has since gotten more crowded (see: El Camino next door and Showtime across the street) Boundary Stone still draws a loyal crowd with its front patio, cozy booths, picklebacks and elevated, late-night pub grub.

Boundary Stone, Bloomingdale’s neighborhood joint, was started by four guys: two brothers and their two friends. It is such a great down-to-earth bar with has a rustic pub feel that gets extra points for a great whiskey program. Boundary Stone is definitely a destination bar if you're coming from another neighborhood. It has a solid whiskey selection, and the bartenders (usually the owners themselves) can make suggestions. The place gets packed evenings and has a great vibe. The food menu is pretty classic, but everything is very well made. Try the ever-changing deviled eggs and the burger with JAM and cheddar cheese.
