Follow the smell of bacon to Smoke & Barrel, where meats get smoked for hours before hitting your plate. (There are some vegetarian options as well.) In addition to loads of whiskey, this barbecue joint offers 24 draft beers, a cask ale and a selection of hard-to-find bottles and cans. The wood-laden interior and rows of brown liquor bottles will make you feel as though you’ve stepped directly into a barrel.

One of our favorites! The fried pickle chips are bomb, and their BBQ platters are deliciousness and hearty. Chef Logan is always trying out new methods and combinations in addition to the standards. All with one of the best beer and bourbon menus in DC. PLUS they have a surprising number of vegetarian and vegan options so you can bring your non-carnivore pals along too.
They have special events too so be sure to check out the calendar on their website.
I am not a vegan or vegetarian, but I come here for the fake chicken wings, which are DELICIOUS and a great texture and have wood stick in then to act as the bone, and the cheddar jalapeno grits. So delicious. This is a great reprieve in busy Adams Morgan.
