A Downtown hotel whose luxurious and very traditional feel—just as Founding Father James Madison would have wanted—makes it popular with visiting foreign dignitaries. One of its two restaurants, Palette, is sleek and modern—a departure from the rest of the hotel. The surrounding area is dominated by office buildings and is a little dull after dark, but you can easily walk to the livelier Dupont and Logan Circle neighborhoods.
