Time Out says

Unlike Washington’s townhouse B&Bs, the Swann House, built in 1883, is a freestanding mansion, which means the hallways aren’t cramped and the lighting is good throughout. The pleasant rooms, which vary in their color schemes, are romantic without being twee, and some have working fireplaces and jacuzzis. A small swimming pool nestles in a brick courtyard at the back. Although it’s a four-block walk to the nearest Metro station, you are rewarded with a beautiful tree-lined neighborhood within an easy stroll of the trendy bars on U Street and the hip strip of 17th Street. Room prices include breakfast, afternoon nibbles and an evening sherry. Note: children under 12 are not allowed. A two-night stay is usually required at weekends.
