Phillips Collection

The Phillips, as it’s known locally, carries with it a certain status that seems to lift it above the other smaller venues in Washington. Its Sunday afternoon concerts are thus fittingly first-rate as well. If it’s name-recognition you’re looking for, however, you won’t always find it on the bill. But if it’s an excellent performance of chamber music in an environment where such things are truly appreciated that you’re seeking, then you won’t be disappointed. The Phillips Camerata, the ensemble-in-residence with a rotating roster, is now in its second season.
