Time Out says

Bestie Festie has the sort of origin story that makes the whole premise click: it started with friends trading DJ duties at a row-house backyard party, then kept growing until the homemade aux-cord energy became a proper annual tradition. This year's edition brings that spirit to 18th Street Lounge on August 22, with friends taking turns behind the decks and a crowd encouraged to dress like they're actually going to a festival, not just another Saturday night out. The appeal is the personal angle. These sets come from people who know the songs their friends will dance to, sing along with and probably shout across the room about. It feels less like a formal music festival than a very well-organized excuse to get your favorite people together, dress up a little and spend four hours arguing over who has the best taste in music.
