Holy Wave

Holy Wave’s latest chapter finds the Austin band tightening their psychedelic haze into something more focused. The group’s new record, i’m DADA, was shaped in Ensenada with help from experimental duo Lorelle Meets the Obsolete, and it carries a sense of distance and reinvention without losing the woozy textures longtime fans know. At Pearl Street Warehouse, the appeal is hearing those looping grooves, fuzzed-out guitars and understated vocals take on a more physical form. The band has always been good at creating songs that feel slightly untethered, but this set should reveal the sharper rhythms and darker edges that have emerged in their newer work.
