Pitmaster Rob Sonderman packs a ton of flavor into this tiny sliver of a restaurant. With all due respect to the sausage king of U Street (cough, Ben’s Chili Bowl, cough), this barbecue joint knows how to make a mean half-smoke. In addition to sauce-drenched sandwiches, DCity Smokehouse serves one of the best briskets in town, with the option of fatty or lean cuts. The shaved Brussels sprouts, which are crisped in the fryer and dusted with the same rub Sonderman uses on his chicken, are a must.
