Pitmaster Rob Sonderman packs a ton of flavor into this tiny sliver of a restaurant. With all due respect to the sausage king of U Street (cough, Ben’s Chili Bowl, cough), this barbecue joint knows how to make a mean half-smoke. In addition to sauce-drenched sandwiches, DCity Smokehouse serves one of the best briskets in town, with the option of fatty or lean cuts. The shaved Brussels sprouts, which are crisped in the fryer and dusted with the same rub Sonderman uses on his chicken, are a must.

The location isn't the best and the place can hold about 5 people at once but none of that really matters.

What matters is the food and this is one of the best BBQs I've ever had. First I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich which could be in my top ten favorite sandwiches of all time. The meat is perfectly cooked and brings out every flavor imaginable, no sauce needed. That was yesterday, today I ate the pound of ribs/burnt ends that my girlfriend wanted but never ate. Man, Im glad she didn't. Once again I'm not sure if I've ever experienced more flavors at once in one bite with no sauce needed. AND This was after  having them sit in the fridge for a day and then reheating them in the microwave

This place gets meat and I will certainly be back for more
