Films on the Green brings free outdoor French cinema back to Washington, D.C., pairing classic and contemporary films with some of the city's most enjoyable summer spaces. Organized by Villa Albertine and its partners, the series is a chance to see French storytelling in a setting that feels far removed from a traditional theater visit. The appeal is in the simplicity: a blanket, a good film and a public space transformed for an evening of culture. The program changes from year to year, making each screening a reason to discover a new favorite or revisit a familiar title with a different crowd. For anyone who likes their movie nights with a little more conversation and a little less screen isolation, this seasonal series remains one of the easiest ways to spend a summer evening.
