The New York dream is hard to kill, which is why artists of all stripes still flock here. And for good reason: NYC is the greatest city in the world, and there’s no better place to be discovered. But studio space is skyrocketing, and even getting something as prosaic as paint and canvas has become complicated. Which begs the question: Have New York’s rising rents killed the young artist? We surveyed local galleries to see which promising up-and-coming artists they’re rooting for. Meet five of the ones giving the dream a go.
