With the cost of living in New York as epically high as its enviable skyscrapers, it's not a surprise that Gothamites barely blink when forking over $12 for a single cocktail. It's simply become the reality of drinking in our fair city, but that doesn't mean there aren't some wallet-friendly exceptions to that rule. Here are five spots where you can booze up for well under a Hamilton.

Bahama Mamas at Zombie Hut
Check out this Tiki-themed tavern where beach-inspired drinks like Mai Tais, Bahama Mamas and Planters Punches all clock in around $5. 273 Smith St, Brooklyn (718-875-3433)

Punch at The Drink
The East Williamsburg dive offers a rotating list of punches, each for $5. Options include the bourbon-and-chamomile-tea Old Gunwale, a La Guernica with rye, green tea and jalapeño tincture, and the Smoke on the Water with tequila, port and green tea. 228 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn thedrinkbrooklyn.com)

Manhattans at No. 7 North
Borough-themed quaffs will set you back only $7 at this Greenpoint spot. Popular choices are a traditional Manhattan or the gin-vermouth-and-pineapple Queens. 931 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn (718-389-7775, no7north.com)

The Bean and Cream at The Levee
A favorite of Williamsburg locals for its cheese-puff bar offerings and dirt-cheap drinks, this Kings County hang offers a Bean and Cream (Jim Beam and cream soda) for only $6.50. 212 Berry St, Brooklyn (718-218-8787, theleveenyc.com)

Margaritas at Rosemary’s Greenpoint Tavern
Margaritas make everything better, especially when they cost only $5, or less than two rides on the L Train. 188 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn (718-384-9539)
