New York's first cat café is dropping in December

If you’re into snuggling fluffy kittens and stuffing yourself with sweets, then Meow Parlour, the upcoming cat café from Macaron Parlour mavens Christina Ha and Emilie Legrand, is a purrfect spot for relaxation in the city.

Opening December 15, the kitten kingdom will feature more than furballs, offering Blue Bottle Coffee pour-overs, Harney & Sons teas and cat-shaped pastries like black and white cookies ($2.25), macarons ($3) and cheesecake bars ($3). It’s the first permanent food-and-feline destination in NYC, but before you start gawking at the idea of hairballs in your java, the pet playroom is a separate, reservation-only space. To get cat time, sign up for half-hour slots ($4 each) or a $30 five-hour period, then roam around with the felines. If you can’t bear to part with your new friends, consider adoption: Each of the cats is from KittyKind, a non-profit cat rescue organization.
