Dudleys The team behind Aussie-accented spots Kingswood and Ruby’s brings a tweaked version of the Bronte burger to the Lower East Side with this 40-seat spot. Get the signature patty—slicked with chili mayo, cloaked with melted Swiss and tucked into an oblong ciabatta roll—or opt for a few small plates (including smoked fish dip), a homemade pasta (like fettuccine with kale pesto) or another entreé (such as panfried fluke over creamed cauliflower). In the morning, get Counter Culture Coffee at the U-shaped marble bar; later at night, draft beers and seasonal cocktails, such as Dudley’s Cup (Brooklyn gin, crushed watermelon, lime, cracked pepper), are on offer. 85 Orchard St at Broome St (212-925-7355)

East Village Social A tin ceiling, exposed brick walls and a Western saddle decorate this laid-back East Village bar. Choose from draft beers (Shipyard, Rogue) and seasonal sangrias (strawberry, peach). Late-night drinkers can offset the boozing with comfort-food staples (pulled-pork sandwiches, egg and cheese on a biscuit), served until 4am. 126 St. Marks Pl between First Ave and Ave A (no phone yet)

Irving Farm Upper West Side caffeine fiends can sip single-origin espresso at this 74-seat brownstone café, the third location from the Hudson Valley coffee roaster. The shop also brews pour-overs through Japanese Kalita drippers, and offers light fare, including bagels, salads and sandwiches. Nighttime drinkers looking for a boozier buzz can choose from wines and local craft beers. 224 W 79th St between Amsterdam Ave and Broadway (212-874-7979)

Jezebel James Beard Award winner Bradford Thompson gives Shabbat dinner an upgrade at this New American kosher restaurant, from financiers and nightlife fixtures Menachem Senderowicz and Henry Stimler. Diners can order refined kosher dishes like roasted marrow bone with parsley, pickled onion and toasted bread crumbs; grilled Cornish hen with a warm bread salad, olives and Swiss chard; and seaweed-and-salt-baked whole branzino. To drink, choose from an all-kosher, 125-bottle wine list or cocktails such as the Jezebel’s Kiss (saffron-infused tequila, blood orange, black grapes, lavender bitters). The sleek 150-seat restaurant, housed in an 1887 townhouse, reps Hebrew culture with a ram's-horn chandelier (a reference to the shofar trumpet) and artwork featuring the faces of Jewish figures superimposed on iconic portraits, including Michael Bloomberg as George Washington. The dairy-free meat kitchen is certified glatt kosher, but it still serves prepaid dinners after sundown on Friday nights for less observant diners. 323 West Broadway between Canal and Grand Sts (646-410-0717)

McCoy This bi-level American bistro conjures turn-of-the-20th-century eateries, with decorative elements like vintage ceiling fans, a 1908 cash register and brass fire extinguishers. But the menu offers contemporary fare, such as four different mac and cheeses and a vegan farro risotto, as well as an oyster bar and a cheese-and-charcuterie station. In the subterranean downstairs lounge, tipplers can pick from ten draft brews and twists on classic cocktails, like an Arnold Palmer riff made with a ginger-infused vodka, lemon syrup and juice, and sparkling water. 89 MacDougal St at Bleecker St (212-460-0900)

OatMeals Oatmeal is the focus of this ten-seat café, where vintage canisters and crates line the walls. Top a bowl of the hot cereal with your choice of fresh fruit, nuts and sauces, or opt for a ready-made combo, such as the Canadian (bacon, sharp cheddar and roasted apple) or the cheesecake (fresh blackberries, candied lemon and mascarpone). Croissants, cookies and scones starring the whole grain are also on offer, as are sandwiches built on house-baked oatmeal bread. 120 W 3rd St between MacDougal St and Sixth Ave (646-360-3570)

Rosco's Pizzeria Chef Jonathan Greenberg earned his dough-spinning bona fides at new-school pizza greats Franny's and Paulie Gee's. After a stint at Barboncino, the pizzaiolo teamed up with restaurateurs Clay Mallow and Wade Hagenbart (Gueros Brooklyn, Dram Shop) to roll out this ode to the time-honored Brooklyn pizza parlor: a 20-seat joint rigged with black vinyl banquettes, a tin ceiling, and a video-game table loaded up with Donkey Kong and Pac-Man. Here, Greenberg updates Italian-American classics with high-end ingredients, crafting New York–style pies with organic flour, San Marzano tomatoes, and Coluccio's meats and cheeses. As at any proper red-sauce spot, Greenberg honors his grandmother's meatball recipe, here made with grass-fed beef and stuffed into subs or deposited atop pies. He rounds out the simple menu with more heros (chicken Parm, sausage and peppers), as well as salads (Caesar) and antipasti (fried risotto balls). To drink, choose from beer (Miller High Life, Southern Tier IPA), wine and root beer (Sprecher) on tap; plus, the spot offers to-go growlers to take out with your pie. 685 Franklin Ave at Prospect Pl, Prospect Heights, Brooklyn (347-955-4881)

Soaked at Mondrian Soho This reservations-only rooftop bar serves produce-driven cocktails and alcohol-spiked fruits (like bourbon-flavored white peaches) atop the Mondrian SoHo. Lounge on teak furniture and sip tipples made with cold-pressed juices from Liquiteria and infused spirits, such as mescal with Mexican chocolate and chili de arbol. The 4,000-square-foot space—which features hundreds of hanging antique lightbulbs, tall potted plants and a grass meadow—affords expansive views of downtown Manhattan. 150 Lafayette St between Grand and Howards Sts, rooftop (212-389-0000)

Socarrat Paella Bar Spanish-food lovers can dig into pans of the country's famed rice dish in roomier digs at this bi-level eatery, the third location for Socarrat. 953 Second Ave between 50th and 51st Sts (212-759-0101)

The Well Vets of the Knitting Factory bring a massive 14,000-square-foot beer garden to the ’Burg. The joint—housed in a former brewery with 30-foot ceilings and brick walls inset with kegs—doubles as a live music venue featuring big-name acts like hip-hop artist Cam'ron, Latin psych-rock band Os Mutantes and British rocker Peter Murphy. Sixty taps pour brews (Sixpoint, Captain Lawrence, Greenport Harbor) at a long wood bar, but Williamsburg's new moneyed set can blow it out with the 30-bottle champagne list. 272 Meserole St between Bushwick Pl and Waterbury St, Williamsburg, Brooklyn (347-599-1759)
