Beautiful weather and the allure of a $400 grand prize drew teams to the 22nd annual Coney Island Sand Sculpting Contest and Unity Day. Despite the high stakes, participants tore themselves away from their ephemeral structures to enjoy dips in the ocean, hot dogs from Nathans and sunbathing.
