The Carlo IV offers slightly misplaced Italian opulence. The incongruity comes from its location in a well-placed but not particularly pretty street, while the luxury comes courtesy of the Boscolo Hotels chain, which did a lot of work on this former bank/post office in order to turn it into the decadent hotel it is today. There's a cigar bar, an indoor swimming pool, wooden floors and a soothing colour palette of sage, gold and mahogany. It's a cushy place to stay, even if some rooms might benefit from more space and less poshness.
