The Princely Collections' evocative paintings of happy peasants (a subject about which the historically powerful Lobkowicz clan knows plenty), musical scores, instruments, weapons and decorative art look fresh compared to the somewhat fusty museums run by the castle; the Beethoven and Mozart manuscripts are a particular highlight. But it's unlikely that visitors who've seen all the competing collections in the surrounding complex will feel a yen to tour another one. If that's the case, take comfort in the news that free 1pm concerts and a scenic courtyard café lie within this newly opened palace. There's also a gift shop with a good array of books, posters and other castle-related stuff.
