Of a summer's evening there are few better places for an alfresco meal than this seafood-oriented restaurant around the back of the Forum, in the prettiest of residential squares. Come prepared to splash out, though: it's decidedly upmarket, and attracts a fair amount of expense-account business trade. Some dishes, like the minestra di broccoli in brodo di arzilla (broccoli ravioli in skate broth) are pure cucina romana; others, like the tonnarelli San Teodoro (with shrimps, courgettes and cherry tomatoes) are lighter and more creative; still others are a fusion of tradition and modernity, like the baked sea bass served in a coat of Jewish-style fried artichokes. Don't miss the gelato di cassata: an ice-cream take on the classic Sicilian ricotta and candied-fruit cake.
