L'Osteria review Rate it

The people behind 'Gusto opened this modernised take on a traditional Italian osteria just down the road from the mothership. The place seats well over a hundred, on two levels, but some warm, bistro-like corners have been carved out of the warehousey space. The idea here is to apply the Spanish tapas approach to the trattoria menu: so everything, from the fritti (fry-ups of ricotta, innards, polenta, seafood and broccoli) to traditional pasta dishes like spaghetti alla gricia, can be ordered either as full portions or as a series of tasters. The full-on hot dishes can be a tad disappointing; our advice is to focus on the excellent cold meat and cheese selection (the place also has a takeaway cheese counter, with around 400 varieties) and explore the ample wine list - which also includes a good by-the-glass selection.
