In this long-running standby in the Ghetto, a troop of old-fashioned waiters serves up plentiful helpings of decent versions of cucina ebraica (Jewish cuisine) classics like carciofi alla giudia (crunchy fried whole artichokes) and fried baccalà (salt cod) to large tables of tourists - both Italian and foreign. The atmosphere is loud, warm and friendly, and an unexpectedly extensive wine list has reasonable markups. When the weather is warmer, sit at the outside tables for a fine view of the first-century Portico d'Ottavia.
