Caffè Canova-Tadolini review Rate it

Sculptor Antonio Canova signed a contract in 1818 to ensure that this property, in the heart of the old artists' quarter, would remain an atelier for sculpture. The master's wishes were respected until 1967: the workshop passed through many generations of the Tadolini family, descendants of Canova's favourite pupil and heir, Adamo Tadolini.

Now refurbished as a museum-atelier, Canova's workshop has café tables among its sculpture models and a refined and elegant old-world feel: dark hardwood floors, wood-beamed ceilings, chandeliers and mustard-yellow leather banquettes and chairs. Lunch is served, and the small bar offers cocktails and assorted drinks, as well as tasty titbits, from canapés to cookies and pastries.

Looked for a quirky place for a meal and stumbled across this place in March 2015 Absolutely appalling. Food inedible, had to clean toilet (without seat) of hair etc before prepared to use it. Do not go anywhere near this place for food or drink.

Staff arrogant, didn't even crack a smile. Popped in for coffee before going for dinner later but never returned. As we were only going for a coffee at the bar, we seemed looked down on. Shame as it is quite quirky.

Terrible food, but great atmosphere. Worth a stop.
