Time Out Market Barcelona

As Time Out Market Barcelona prepares to open this summer, further additions have been unveiled to its curated lineup of award-winning chefs, up-and-coming restaurateurs and much-loved local gems.

Time Out Market is a food and cultural market based on editorial curation – it brings the best of the city together under one roof: its best chefs and restaurateurs, drinks and cultural experiences.

With almost all vendors announced, Time Out Market Barcelona is dedicated to showcasing local and homegrown talent, making high-quality food from some of the city’s best talents affordable and accessible. The space in which Time Out Market Barcelona will be located – in the Port Vell area on the top floor of the Maremagnum –  is currently undergoing a transformation to create a uniquely-designed destination for people to come together to enjoy culinary and cultural experiences in a casual, communal atmosphere. Complementing this celebration of Barcelona’s best food, drinks and culture, the Market will offer incredible city and sea views, including Barceloneta’s iconic Torre del Rellotge (clock tower) and the new Llotja de Pescadors (the city’s renewed fish market).

Time Out Market Barcelona will feature 14 chefs and restaurateurs, a full-service restaurant, four bars (two indoor and two outdoor), an event space and a podcast station across 5,250 sqm; there will be direct access from the street via an escalator and an elevator.

The following chefs and restaurateurs announced today will join Time Out Market Barcelona when it opens this summer (the exact opening date will be announced soon alongside further additions to its lineup, as well as information about the beverage and cultural programme):

Xuba Tacos by two-star Michelin honoured Chef Antonio Sáez will offer spectacular tacos at the Market

Xuba Tacos, one of Barcelona’s best taquerias, is a project for which Antonio Sáez – awarded with two Michelin stars at Lasarte – has partnered with his Mexican friend Raúl Salcido to celebrate their love for Mexican cuisine. The Xuba – 'Xuba' means corn in the Zapotec indigenous language – taco menu features classic tacos such as Tacos al Pastor or a delicious Cochinita Pibil and also, its own creations. All tacos are traditionally prepared in front of the customer and with blue corn tortillas which have a neutral flavour, enhancing the highest-quality products made every day on the premises.

RiasKru will serve classic, creative seafood at Time Out Market Barcelona

RiasKru – a fusion of two legendary seafood restaurants, Rías de Galicia and Espai Kru – will join Time Out Market Barcelona to offer the finest seafood. A pioneer of culinary fusion in Barcelona, Chef Robert Gelonch’s motto of less is more shines through in his elegant, creative cuisine. Using the best seasonal ingredients that the sea has to offer, the menu will feature raw and marinated seafood based on classic Galician cooking, married with Japanese-inspired elements. RiasKru was recently named one of Time Out Barcelona’s best restaurants.

Bar Nuri will bring tapas to Time Out Market Barcelona

Nuri, together with her husband Jordi, opened her first neighbourhood tapas bar Bar Núria in Poblenou in 1962, having learned cooking from her mother and grandmother. Their culinary legacy lives on in Bar Nuri which six decades and three generations later was reopened in 2022 by Nuri’s family to celebrate traditional, honest cuisine and pay homage to the beginnings of their parents and grandparents. Loved by locals in the neighbourhood, Bar Nuri will now also bring to Time Out Market its classical tapas made with seasonal ingredients and the most outstanding dishes that Nuri cooked when the restaurant first opened in 1962.

Casa Guinart will serve Catalan cuisine using local ingredients at Time Out Market Barcelona

First opened in 1899, Casa Guinart was reinvented a few years ago and is now one of the city’s reference points for Catalan cuisine. Located between La Rambla and Mercat de Boqueria, Casa Guinart is popular with the fresh-produce market’s vendors as well as locals and visitors. David Moya together with Chef Òscar Manresa, a great connoisseur of the Boqueria, will bring to the Market their best product and their particular vision of classic Catalan cuisine, such as fricandó or meatballs with cuttlefish.

La Balmesina will bring their gourmet pizza to Time Out Market Barcelona

Behind La Balmesina, open since 2017, are Max, Ale and Mattia – three Italians known and loved all over the city for their light and crispy gourmet pizza made with a sourdough base. Their recipes and cooking techniques are what has made La Balmesina famous as it uses only organic flours and a dough that is fermenting cold for up to 72 hours. Recently included on 50 Top Pizza’s list as Europe’s ninth best pizzeria, La Balmesina will now also offer its sublime pizza at Time Out Market Barcelona.

Classic, delicious burgers by La Real Hamburgueseria will join Time Out Market Barcelona

La Real Hamburguesería’s hamburgers have become classics in the city due to the high quality and top ingredients with which Chef Eduardo Egui and his partner Arturo López create each detail. This is how they create hamburgers that stand out for their presentation but above all for their taste, and classics in a sector saturated with fleeting trends. The team also makes a difference as everything is made in their kitchen and from scratch – from the guacamole to the ketchup, and the fries with everything, adding up to exceptional burgers.

Monster Sushi will bring a burst of Japanese flavours to Time Out Market Barcelona

Sushi is raw cooking at its best and at the heart of Monster Sushi are many years of training in Japan, California and Barcelona. Using locally-sourced high-quality ingredients and refined Japanese techniques, Monster Sushi offers a burst of flavours and textures which will soon be home at Time Out Market Barcelona too. However, Monster Sushi is not only about sensational sushi: it also offers a wide range of Asian hot dishes. One must-try dish is the yakisoba noodles with beef sirloin which are among the best in town.

Bubó will bring its creative haute chocolatier to Time Out Market Barcelona

Since its opening in 2005, Bubó has been at the forefront of chocolate and modern pastry in Barcelona. Using organic and local raw materials, all the cocoa in their chocolate, pastries and cakes creations comes from sustainable cultivation. Their creative and daring packaging wraps around unique flavours which are popular in ten countries around the world, with a particularly large fanbase in Japan, South Korea and Singapore.

Colmado Múrria opens its second store in 126 years at Time Out Market Barcelona

To say that Colmado Múrria is an iconic store is an understatement. Since it opened in 1898, this modernist gem has specialised in selling the best local and international gastronomic delicacies; in fact, the first Champagne and smoked salmon to be sold in Barcelona was over the Múrria counter. And now, at Time Out Market, the best Catalan and Iberian sausages, an extensive selection of wine, cava and premium Champagne, delicate preserves and a careful selection of cheeses will be served – all selected by Joan Múrria, the master grocer.

Silvia Nuri, General Manager of Time Out Market Barcelona said: “Time Out Market Barcelona will create a local, authentic and accessible experience for our guests – it’s for locals by locals and we want to make sure everything we offer speaks to them.
