Housed in a grand 17th-century canal house (and a location for the film Ocean's 12), the Cat Cabinet differs from Amsterdam's more notorious pussy palaces. It's a veritable temple to the feline form: in fact, it boasts that it's the world's only museum with a permanent exhibition devoted to cats, and so far no one's come forward to disagree. Paintings, statues, posters and cattish ephemera fill the vast rooms, guarded (after a fashion) by moggies who spend the time lying around, cocking a silent snook at guests.
