If the budget doesn't stretch as far as the swankier hotels on and around Dam Square, this one is the match for them on location, if not on style itself. Nestling on an interesting backstreet bustling with lovely bars, restaurants and theatres, the hotel lobby is pure 1930s art deco glam - reflecting the building's past as a gold merchant's offices - though rooms are plain and tidy. Single rooms, it has to be said, are really rather miniscule.
