With its stunning coastline blessed with consistent surf, its lush, monkey-thronged jungles and magical mountain towns, Bali is an undisputed icon when it comes to holidaying in Asia. And if you’re looking for somewhere exceptional to stay, another player has recently entered the arena: with designer apartment complexes popping up in the most beloved corners of the island. Having discovered Lyvin Melasti on the Instagram account of every Bali-based travel influencer, I was determined to check out the trending hotel brand for myself, and can happily confirm that it’s worth the hype.

Perched high above one of Bali’s most popular bohemian beaches, Lyvin Melasti is a dream upscale stay – a collection of meticulously appointed designer apartments, each complete with private infinity pools looking out over green roofs and the Melasti coastline. I’m sure each Lyvin property has its perks – with the same ethos and aesthetic running throughout – but I can wholeheartedly vouch for this particular clifftop stay. If you’re splashing out on a few luxe nights on your next Bali getaway, bookmark this spot.

What is Lyvin Melasti like?

Set across four terraced levels of limestone cliff, Lyvin Melasti is a barefoot luxury stay brought to life with a soft, very 2025 touch: minimalist but warm, and architecturally designed with a deep connection to nature. Green roofs melt into the hillscape, curved pathways glide with the contours of the land, and the Bali sunlight floods into each immaculately styled apartment through striking floor-to-ceiling windows.

What are the rooms like at Lyvin Melasti?

Comfortably sleeping between four to eight adults, the 16 brand-new villas and suites here feel like a masterclass in calm. Floor-to-ceiling glass blurs the boundary between inside and out, while honed Sulawesi marble, custom teak furniture, and neutral tones keep things soothing and textural. Beds are absurdly comfortable, and every element feels considered – sensor lighting which can be adjusted from bed, motorised blinds and plush robes waiting by stacks of fluffy towels. On the heavy wooden table in the dining room, I found a fruitbowl overflowing with fresh, locally-sourced fruit, and the minibar was stacked with the kinds of treats you actually want during your time in Bali: kombucha to keep you well and oat milk to add to your morning coffee by the pool. Crucially, every villa comes with its own infinity pool spilling out into far-reaching views of the Indian Ocean – stay here and resist the temptation to get a picture of the pool at sunset, I dare you.

Private offices (in select villas) and excellent WiFi make these apartments a dream option for digital nomads, and the varying layouts (ranging from two-bedroom to four-bedroom villas) make them perfect for groups of any size.

Which are the best restaurants near Lyvin Melasti?

The bohemian beach town of Melasti is a short scooter ride or drive from the villas, and here you’ll find a good handful of Bali essentials: acai bowl spots and beach clubs serving holiday go-tos. But if you’re looking for really world-class dining, it’s worth heading a tiny bit further afield to Uluwatu (just a 16-minute drive from the hotel). Here, our top picks include Mediterranean-inspired Masonry, buzzing Greek restaurant Kala Uluwatu, wood-fired grillhouse Papi Sapi and playful fusion spot Artisan Bali

What is the service like at Lyvin Melasti?

The team brings Lyvin’s low-intervention philosophy to life with warm, attentive hospitality that never feels over-engineered – it’s service that anticipates rather than interrupts. Families are especially well cared for, with everything from cots and car seats to toys, pool fences, and nanny services available on request.

Is there a gym or pool at Lyvin Melasti?

While there’s no dedicated gym, every villa comes with its own private pool – stretched along the terrace edge for maximum ocean immersion, and long enough to clock a few serious laps if you’re looking for a workout. The resort is also planning walking trails around its three-hectare estate, ideal for a gentle leg-stretch between swims.
