That itch to pack up and jet off somewhere new? Totally relatable – and you're not alone. More and more folks are calling it quits and swapping routines for new scenery abroad. According to money transfer site Remitly, the most recent statistics showed that there are around 281 million international migrants in the world – that’s 3.6% of the world’s population. If you're one of them, here are some of the top Asian countries to relocate to, as highlighted by Remitly.
Remitly’s latest report ranks 82 countries around the world based on 24 key factors anyone should consider before making a big move abroad. Covering everything from healthcare quality and economic strength, to safety, digital connectivity, and how suitable a place is for families.
Taking first place in Asia is Singapore, followed closely by Japan in second. No shocker there, given that Singapore’s been crowned Asia-Pacific’s best city for 2025, and Tokyo just snagged a spot as one of the world’s top cities for the same year. Both countries earned impressive scores of 77.3 and 77.0, respectively, thanks to their low crime rates and efficient law enforcement. Singapore also scored 66.1 out of 100 with a total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita of $84,734, showing it’s not just safe but also economically strong.
Next up is Thailand in third place. With an impressive score of 87.5 out of 100 for banking accessibility, opening an account takes just two days and four documents. On top of that, with an ultra-low 0.9% unemployment rate and a perfect 100 in employment, Thailand stands out for both work and finance. And just to drive the point home, Bangkok, Thailand, earned second place as one of Asia’s best cities this 2025.
