2016 Great Backyard Bird Count Primer And Guided Walk says
Discover the urban bird habitat at Blue Heron Nature Preserve, the home base for Atlanta Audubon Society. We will bird the main trail paralleling Nancy Creek, the perimeter of Mill Pond, and the trail at Emma Wetlands. The focus will be wintering and year-round residents including songbirds, woodpeckers, and waterfowl.
This is an excellent field trip for beginning birders. Families are welcomed. Binoculars will be available on site to borrow. Atlanta Audubon’s own shade-grown coffee will be available to sample as well!
A portion of the field trip will be focused on how to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count, a worldwide citizen science event taking place February 12-15. We will show participants briefly how to access and submit an eBird report from a smartphone or tablet, and explain the criteria for submitting checklists during GBBC weekend.
This event is free and open to the public, but preregistration is requested: https://atlaudubon.z2systems.com/event.jsp?event=112&.
