BODIES ON DISPLAY presents:

GANJA AND HESS (1973) - the twisted tale of a man (Hess) cursed with a thirst for blood. Through a fascinating sequence of events, he meets a woman (Ganja) with whom he forms a savage bond that will test their will for survival.

Unrelenting and captivating, the film demonstrates the power of Black Cinema and stars Duane Jones (Night of the Living Dead) alongside the phenomenal Marlene Clark.

The film suffered multiple instances of recutting and censorship upon its release, appearing under various titles due to its graphic and violent material. Later, Kino Classics rereleased a full restoration through The Museum of Modern Art.

"An underground classic... the most complicated, intriguing, subtle, sophisticated, and passionate Black film of the Seventies." - James Monaco, American Film Now
