Drag: a fusion art form in which an individual intentionally assumes a theatrically gendered guise in, and for, performance

Regardless of whether we aspire to be drag superstars or would even call ourselves performers, we can all learn from drag as an art form in order to empower ourselves. Through the lens of this rich tradition we will explore facets of being such as creativity, transformation, body language, and how to dress for success.

This workshop will start off with an audio/visual intro by the instructor giving context to and briefing participants on the past, present and future of drag, followed by a demo and individual exercises. No worries, no pressure - this workshop is about process versus results and is open to people of all gender presentations, identities and all levels of performance experience (including the lack thereof).

Brooklyn-based drag king Goldie Peacock has been called "the most flamboyant, regal bird in the menagerie" and has performed, taught workshops, emceed, and modeled worldwide for over a decade. Recently, Goldie was named one of the 21 best drag kings by, and has been featured in the Huffington Post, Lash Magazine, and Refinery 29, and was chosen to participate in five different artist residencies across the country.
