Next at MINT - a solo exhibition of Dana Haugaard, featuring a sound and sculptural installation. Haugaard’s large scale installations facilitate a sense of body and self created through controlled situations using vibrations, sound, and other external constructs

ARTIST STATEMENT- Our contemporary lifestyle has partially severed our connection to physicality. Ubiquitous screens and engineered external stimulation portal us out of the present moment to other worlds, futures and pasts, places of the mind removed from the sensing body. "no here more than here" is an attempt to redirect your attention back to the immediate present, to feel the gravity of your body moving through space. By navigating the reality of this installation, you experience direct contact with your environment, observing the ripples of your presence in the world.

BIO - Dana Haugaard started making and studying art during his time at Emory University where he double majored in Art History and Visual Art. He maintained his art practice in Atlanta until 2009 when he began his graduate art degree at the University of Iowa, which he finished in 2012. In 2014 Dana returned to Atlanta to be the Donna and Marvin Schwartz Artist in Residence at Emory University culminating with the performative sound and sculpture installation “Now, More Than Ever.” He is currently part of the Studio Artist Program at Atlanta Contemporary. Dana has shown at the Urban Institute of Contemporary Art in Grand Rapids, MI, The State Historical Museum in Des Moines, IA as well as smaller pop-up spaces and galleries in Iowa City. He was also the Featured artist at the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs annual Gala. Dana is a Hambidge Fellow and was a resident at ACRE in Stubin, WI.
In the next few months he has installations planned for the Chicago Urban Art Society in Chicago, IL and Eyedrum in Atlanta.
